From its historic offices, perched on the slopes of Avenue de la Paix, the International Committee of the Red Cross today announced the next steps in its painful transformation from a financially-stricken humanitarian behemoth to a leaner organisation more closely focused on its foundational values.

Provided that everything goes according to its new four-year plan. Its president, Mirjana Spoljaric, describes below some of the soul-searching that took place along the way.
