Hi, this is Michelle. All eyes are on New York this week as heads of state converge for what promises to be a fiery gathering. The UN General Assembly's high-level week opened yesterday with a historic shift as a wave of western nations joined 147 others in recognising the state of Palestine.

Meanwhile in Geneva, the Human Rights Council continues, with the rights expert on Russia, warning that Moscow is deploying an increasingly repressive system that is reminiscent of some of its darkest past practices. On health, negotiators finalising the last outstanding element of the pandemic treaty have decided to open the talks more widely to observers.
