💰Donors pledge $1.16 billion to Geneva-based UNHCR.
The UN refugee agency rallied nearly $1.5bn in promised support for 2026, including contributions from its national partner associations, exceeding last year’s pledges, according to refugee high commissioner Filippo Grandi. This secures nearly a fifth of the budget of the embattled agency, which had to lay off 5,000 staff this year and cut back on its future operations.
