🏃🏽‍♂️Showing solidarity in 2022. Home to people of over 170 different nationalities, Geneva is famed for its internationalism. The city’s vast community of hundreds of global NGOs representatives, country delegations and the United Nations is always looking outward to address worldwide issues, from humanitarian crises to global health threats and climate change. But the city also offers a whole range of ways to support issues closer to home. Here’s a look at eight initiatives helping to keep the city’s spirit of solidarity alive as a new year begins.

📌 10 January | Nuclear Weapons and Democracy. This online event, organised by the Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP) will discuss the findings of a study conducted by the Nuclear Knowledges academic programme of Sciences Po Paris. The event was due to coincide with the 2022 Tenth Review Conference of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), now postponed until August.

📌 13 January | Geneva Beat Plastic Pollution Dialogues. The dialogues’ first virtual session of 2022, organised in partnership with the UN Environment Management Group and GRID-Arendal, will delve into a new report that maps the UN system’s response to marine litter and plastic pollution.
