Hi, this is Michelle. The Human Rights Council opened its 61st session with the UN chief issuing a blunt warning about an assault on human rights by “those who hold the greatest power”.
We hear from sources that talks on Ukraine's war may return to Geneva late this week. Whether Russia will show up is another question – and with the calendar already crowded by a fresh round of negotiations between Washington and Tehran, nothing is locked in.
Meanwhile, a key global health agency is beginning to feel the squeeze from shrinking donor support — and so are the countries that depend on it. |

🕊️Next round of Ukraine peace talks could be this week, Kyiv says.
Kyrylo Budanov, the Ukrainian president's chief of staff, told reporters another round of negotiations could take place this week, after last week's efforts in Geneva failed to produce a breakthrough. The venue hasn't been confirmed, though sources point to Geneva. A significant swap of prisoners of war is under negotiation, according to Budanov.
