What to watch this week

⚕NEW WORLD. After reaffirming its global purpose early last week – in response to president Donald Trump –, the WHO’s executive board will wind up meetings tomorrow, forwarding a number of recommendations and resolutions to be considered for a final decision in May at the World Health Assembly.

Dark days. Much like Geneva’s endless winter stratus, the financial dilemma stemming from the US's withdrawal cast a shadow over the talks. Initiatives by a number of states, including to address rare diseases and health finance, had to wait until their costs could be calculated.

The board, nonetheless, voted to push a resolution to provide a $648 million emergency aid package to Gaza.
