Good morning, this is Kasmira. Iran’s top diplomat in Geneva yesterday sent a clear message that his country was ready for all scenarios in the escalating conflict with Israel. Meanwhile, media reports revealed that European countries were holding talks with Tehran in the Swiss city in a bid to head them off.

As the UN seeks to cut costs, its historic building, the Palais Wilson on the shores of Lake Geneva, could soon be left vacant. And the organisation’s trade and development agency is also feeling the financial squeeze.

Iranian ambassador in Geneva says Iran ready to ‘respond strongly’ if US intervenes directly. Ali Bahreini warned on Wednesday that his country would respond forcefully if the United States becomes directly involved in its conflict with Israel, amid reports that president Donald Trump is considering joining the conflict. The warning came just hours before Reuters reported that the foreign ministers of France, Germany and the United Kingdom plan to meet their Iranian counterpart in Geneva on Friday to seek assurances over Iran's nuclear programme.
